In 2011, the CJ Foundation will offer Program Services Grants and Program Services Mini-Grants. Information for each follows. Please note the Program Services Grants will be by invitation only

The CJ Foundation for SIDS offers two types of grants for services related to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), and/or Infant Safe Sleep — the Program Services Grant and the Program Services Mini-Grant (formerly the Express Grant). Both serve the same purpose with the Mini-Grant being a smaller version of the Program Services Grant.

* For the purpose of the grant program, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) refers to deaths that occur during sleep and often are classified as undetermined, accidental asphyxiation, suffocation, or overlay.

Program Services Grant Information

Purpose: The purpose of the Program Services Grant is to support the mission of the CJ Foundation for SIDS through activities that:

  • Promote Safe Sleep for Infants
  • Educate about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Risk Reduction and Safe Sleep for Infants
  • Provide grief support for parents and others who have experienced the sudden, unexpected death of an infant

Activities may include:

  • Conferences and meetings
  • Training and workshops
  • Community awareness events
  • Material production, purchase and distribution
  • Educational materials
  • Bereavement materials
  • Resource materials
  • Support groups
  • Peer support
  • Counseling
  • Support of staff (full-time, part-time, consultant)
  • Staff who implement education initiatives
  • Staff who provide bereavement services

Program Services Grants Timeline

In 2011, the Program Services Grant will be offered by invitation only. Those being invited to apply will receive an email from the Assistant Executive Director, Programs & Grants no later than Wednesday, August 24th.

 

Program Services Mini-Grant Information

Purpose: The purpose of the Program Services Mini Grant is to support the mission of the CJ Foundation for SIDS through activities that:

  • Promote Safe Sleep for Infants
  • Educate about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Risk Reduction and Safe Sleep for Infants
  • Provide grief support for parents and others who have experienced the sudden, unexpected death of an infant

Activities may include:

  • Conferences and meetings
  • Training and workshops
  • Community awareness events
  • Material production, purchase and distribution
  • Educational materials
  • Bereavement materials
  • Resource materials
  • Support groups
  • Peer support
  • Counseling
  • Newsletter Production and distribution
  • Support of staff (full-time, part-time, consultant)
  • Staff who implement education initiatives
  • Staff who provide bereavement services

The applicant must demonstrate that services relating to SIDS, SUID*, and/or Infant Safe Sleep are an established part of the organization’s services.

Projects exclusively serving perinatal and/or neonatal death will not be considered.

Data collection and analysis for Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) and Child Death Review (CDR) programs will not be considered.

Mini-Grant Minimum/Maximum:

Applicants may apply for a grant of $500 to $5,000.

Mini-Grant Timeline

Guidelines Available: August 22, 2011
Submission deadline: September 26, 2011
Grant status notification: On or about November 1, 2011
Funding cycle: November 1, 2011 through October 31, 2012
Distribution of funds: On or about November 15, 2011
Reporting deadlines: May 31, 2012 and November 30, 2012
