Program Services Grants - Overview

Purpose: to provide funding for services related to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), sudden unexpected infant death (SUID), and/or infant safe sleep.

Areas considered for funding:

  • Education Initiatives
    • SIDS Risk Reduction
    • Safe Sleep for Infants
    • Conferences and meetings
    • Training and workshops
    • Materials (see the FAQs for clarification on the policy regarding incentvies and products)
    • Public Awareness campaigns
    • Staff (full-time, part-time, consultants) who implement education initiatives
  • Bereavement Services
    • Support groups
    • Bereavement packets/resource materials
    • Peer support
    • Counseling
    • Conferences and meetings
    • Training and workshops, including bereavement education
    • Staff (full-time, part-time, consultants) who provide bereavement services

Projects exclusively serving perinatal and/or neonatal death will not be considered.

Data collection and analysis for Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) and Child Death Review (CDR) programs will not be considered. Community action projects for FIMR and CDR will be considered.

Program Services Grant Minimum/Maximum:

  • If applying for funding for 1 project, applicants may apply for a grant of $5,001 to $30,000.
  • If applying for funding for 2 projects, applicants may apply for a grant of $5,001 to $15,000 per project.
  • Average 2008 Program Services Grant Request - $24,339
  • Average 2008 Program Services Grant Award - $16,227

Guidelines available January 23, 2009
Submission deadline March 11, 2009
Funding cycle July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010
Grant status notification On or about June 1, 2009
1st distribution of funds On or about July 1, 2009
2nd distribution of funds On or about November 1, 2009
Reporting deadlines February 15, 2010 and August 16, 2010
