The CJ Foundation for SIDS is endorsing a newly formed National Infant Safe Sleep Initiative, which recognizes hospitals that are dedicated to reducing infant mortality.
The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program, created by Cribs for Kids®, has three levels of certification with different criteria at each level. Each level requires a commitment to reduc-ing infant Sleep-Related Death recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
“The CJ Foundation is pleased to endorse the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program. As more hospitals become certi-fied, the reach is immeasurable,” said Susan Hollander, President and Executive Director of the CJ Foundation. “When safe sleep practices and policies are adopted in the hospital setting, it becomes a standard of care. Not only will parents and caregivers see babies sleeping in a safe environment, they will be informed about the best way and place for baby to sleep.”
